How We Make Money
MORETHAN.ONE is free to read and free to use. This page explains, plainly, how it is funded and what that does and does not mean for what we write.
The short version
MORETHAN.ONE does not charge you anything. We fund it through affiliate partnerships. When you click certain links to software and sign up or buy, the company may pay us a commission. It costs you nothing extra.
We do not sell advertising. We do not accept payment to feature a product, write a review or change a recommendation. We have no sponsored articles.
How affiliate links work
An affiliate link is a special web address that tells a company a visitor came from us. If that visitor becomes a customer, the company may pay us a share. Different companies run different programs, with different terms and different payouts. Each one decides whether to approve a publisher.
That means two things:
- We cannot claim a partnership that does not exist. MORETHAN.ONE is an independent resource and is not an official partner of the companies we write about. We join affiliate programs only through each company's own approval process. A link earns us a commission only where a company's program has accepted us; any other link is an ordinary link that earns us nothing.
- Not every product we mention pays us. Some links are plain. Whether a product has an affiliate program does not decide whether we cover it.
How we mark affiliate links
We follow three rules, so you are never left guessing.
- A disclosure at the top of the page. Any page that links to software carries a short notice before the first link, not buried in a footer.
- A label next to the link. Affiliate links are labeled "(affiliate link)" and marked with the
rel="sponsored"attribute, which tells search engines the link is commercial. This follows Google's guidance on qualifying outbound links (opens in a new tab). - A site-wide disclosure in the footer, and this page.
Our approach is also guided by the US Federal Trade Commission's advice that material connections should be disclosed (opens in a new tab) clearly and close to the recommendation, in simple language. If you are in another country, similar rules may apply, and we aim to meet them.
What commissions do not change
- What we write. Articles are written to help you decide, including when the right answer is a spreadsheet, a free tool or nothing at all.
- Which products we cover. We choose products because independent professionals commonly consider them, not because of the payout.
- What we say about limits. Every product we describe includes drawbacks and things to check. If a company's terms or limits make it a poor fit for some people, we say so.
- How we rank things. We do not rank products, and we do not call any product "the best." We describe who a product may suit.
If an affiliate relationship ever creates a conflict, we will disclose it plainly or leave the link out.
Where the money goes
Commissions help pay for the costs of running the site, such as the domain and hosting, and for the time that goes into researching and writing. There are no investors or sponsors behind individual pages.
Our promises
- Every guide, tool and template is useful with no click on any link.
- We tell you before you click, not after.
- We do not claim to have tested a product unless we have, and we say how.
- We will correct mistakes and tell you when we do.
